- Everyday AI
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion about how AI is transforming industries across the board at the TheVentureCity Summit. The event was a fantastic opportunity to explore the latest developments in the field and discuss how this technology can benefit businesses and individuals. We also talked about Wisecut and the potential of AI to automate many of the time-consuming and repetitive tasks involved in video editing. From analyzing the dialogues to creating shorter attention-grabbing videos, Generative AI can help to streamline the editing process and allow creators to focus on more creative tasks. This not only saves time and resources but can also improve the overall quality of the finished product. Of course, there are still challenges associated with the use of AI in video creation and editing. But, this technology's potential benefits are significant and likely to continue to drive innovation in the video production industry. Overall, I was thrilled to be a part of this event and to have the opportunity to discuss how AI is transforming the video creation and editing process. It was inspiring to see so many professionals from different fields come together to explore this topic and share their insights and ideas. I am excited to see where this technology will take us in the future! - Speed & Performance Improvements
As you may know, we've been investing a lot to improve Wisecut's performance and speed, and I'm excited by our progress on both fronts. We've made great strides in reducing the time spent on projects. Although you may not notice the difference for shorter videos, this is a huge win for longer videos. Of course, speed will still depend on other variables, like the size of the files and features chosen, but we're excited for what's to come. We've also made the user interface and experience MUCH faster when editing on the Storyboard tab, like when splitting or deleting scenes. If you missed our previous newsletters, here's a quick summary of the changes: Product development in the past few months: Launched Wisecut Shorts - Now you can easily turn your long-form talking videos into short, impactful clips with music, subtitles, and smart reframing from landscape to portrait layouts. We shared a video overview of how the feature works. Helping creators make content for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels has long been a top user request. Launched Auto Reframing - Identifies faces within videos to enable better punch cuts where the video zooms into a face to disguise jump cuts. This vastly improves how natural the edit feels as it mirrors a commonly used editing technique. Advanced Storyboard Editing - We expanded its pioneering storyboard editing capabilities with better controls for scenes, overlays, and transcript-based editing. Speed & Performance Improvements - We invested a lot to improve Wisecut's performance and speed, resulting in much greater efficiency of compute resources and lower latency for transcription and processing actions. Additional Language Support - We extended language support to 13 languages for automated transcription and transcript editing. The 13 languages include: English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Filipino, Arabic, Hindi, Farsi, Dutch, Korean, and Japanese. We are also excited to share that we are currently working on integrating new features and capabilities, including Generative AI. We believe this will bring new and exciting possibilities to our platform, and we can't wait to launch these new features in the near future. - How Generative AI Will Help Video Creators and Businesses
LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. NOT THE NOISE. There has been a ton of recent excitement around generative AI and for good reason. But often with hype comes noise. As generative AI entered the mainstream, Wisecut’s number of new users rose 576% in January 2023. But in reality, Wisecut has been leveraging AI for years. More and more tools are coming out that help automate that slog work so that creators have more time to focus on their well being and nurturing their passion. Rather than users spending hours polishing a 1-minute video, Wisecut runs through their raw content and cuts out silences, adds music, edits framing and more. Users can then select the segments they prefer and publish professional-looking content in minutes. But, how does generative AI come in? YouTube Shorts are seen 50 billion times each day. TikTok creators are recommended to keep their videos to just half a minute. A big obstacle to people becoming creators is not having the time to neatly edit videos, or the money to hire someone to do it for them. Generative AI can change the playing field for creators, marketers and businesses eager to take advantage of this emerging media vehicle. Wisecut is working on integrating the same technology behind chatGPT to “summarize” the audiovisual content. It will be able to take a 1-hour video clip and shorten it to, say, 1 minute of the funniest content, or only select the clips around a subject or keyword. All without user input, just an initial prompt. But how will an AI Video Editor benefit real people and businesses? Creators can feel like they have more energy and time to dedicate to the parts of the job they enjoy and find most fulfilling. Such tools save creators time so they can take a step back and address the risk of burnout before it takes a toll Businesses are quickly realizing they need to create videos to get in front of consumers. 91% of businesses use video for marketing, up from 61% in 2016. News video supply is growing on social media, and journalists can use automated tools to transform long interviews into short clips for Youtube or TikTok Colleges have moved classes online, and can make them shorter by simply using tools to cut out silences - making them more engaging for students Editing tools can help businesses dive into this profitable new medium while saving time, money and stress. In the long-run, it is products that solve a problem, not products built around a technology. Written by Mimi Yagoub (Publicize) in collaboration with Ivo Machado (Wisecut). - Announcing Improved Scene Trimmer
We are excited to announce that we’ve just shipped our much-improved scene trimmer. Wisecut works with AI to identify all the pauses and silences of your video and remove them, making the video more concise and engaging. The AI works smoothly in most cases. That said, sometimes you’ll want to trim an extra word or breath. For that, you can use the trim tool as shown in the video below. This highly requested feature will allow you to fine-tune your cuts. Use it to tweak dialogue and action scenes, or make your videos even more professional!
- Introducing Overlay Scene
When Wisecut introduced the Storyboard and Scenes video editing concepts two years ago, we knew that, with time, it would shift the industry’s standard for many people, and we continue to evolve in that direction. Today, we are excited to announce the release of a highly requested feature: the ability to add an overlay scene. Now you can insert a scene or B-roll into/over an existing scene to improve your project with additional content. B-roll allows you to provide context, visual interest, and hide cuts or edits. Videos with B-roll feel more professional than videos without as it increases the video's production value. The new tool allows you to automatically fit a B-roll over a scene or overflow the following scenes. You can also upload images as B-rolls so audio projects can be converted to video projects with a still image while keeping the audio track––a great solution for podcasts turned into videos. This new feature allows you to enhance not only the technical depth of your projects but also your ability to tell a story that truly matters to you and your audience. We’re looking forward to seeing what you will create using Wisecut’s new Overlay feature!
- Why and How YouTubers Use Jump Cuts and Remove Silence in Videos
As a current or aspiring YouTuber, you’ve probably spent tons of time watching all sorts of videos on YouTube (and other platforms) to get an idea of current trends. Being knowledgeable about the other content out there can give you a leg up on the competition when it comes to creating content that your viewers can’t wait to see. One thing that you might notice is that all those other YouTubers out there seem to have perfect videos without any awkward silences. For someone who is starting out with video content, it might seem like everyone else has every line down while you don’t. You may not know that everyone makes mistakes, but the most engaging YouTubers know how to handle those issues. Pauses Take Viewers Out of Immersion Maybe you’ve also seen other videos where the person reporting or speaking has awkward pauses throughout the video. Often, viewers will click away from that content since it’s not engaging enough. It can pull you out of the moment and make it hard to focus on the entertainment or information the video is trying to spread. YouTubers worldwide edit their videos to remove these seconds of silence to ensure people enjoy their content. There’s nobody on the planet who doesn’t flub a line or get caught up in their thoughts when filming, even if it’s only occasional. If you want your content to knock the socks off of people, it has to show that you cared enough to do the best you could do. One of the criteria there is removing frames that viewers won’t gain anything from. Whether it’s an awkward pause or (changing camera angles), those things need to be removed before the upload button is hit. Jump Cuts Add Additional Professionalism Another thing that is common with videos by YouTubers is something called a jump cut. These can be used for all sorts of things, ranging from making objects disappear and come back, creating a certain mood, and adding comedic timing. However, the main reason that the most creative YouTubers use jump cuts is to remove pauses, delete extra words like “uhm” and “uhh,” and ensure viewers are focused on the best footage that was taken. Most people on YouTube don’t have enormous budgets for several video cameras, and the jump cut can help in that regard. Jump cuts give content creators the chance to shoot from multiple angles, cover cuts with b-roll, and much more. YouTubers who want to have a conversational, off-the-cuff tone can implement jump cuts to remove mistakes made while filming. The Best Moments to Utilize Jump Cuts So, you probably understand at this point why jump cuts are a staple of the YouTube world. But you might be wondering reasons to use them yourself. Jump cuts are a great option to remove silences, edit out long-winded explanations or conversations, and delete repeated words or phrases. Once you have the hang of that, you’re likely to find all sorts of other reasons to use this editing tool that’s in your arsenal. Editing videos for hours on end can be frustrating, but there’s a better solution. When you use Wisecut , automatic jump cuts can be utilized to get rid of moments where you’re gathering your thoughts or taking a break from speaking. Wisecut will even create automatic punch-in effects for a more organic transition between cuts. If you’re ready to create the most engaging content possible, give it a shot now and see what it can do!
- How to Add Background Music to Your Videos Automatically
One of the top solutions to making your videos more fun and interesting to watch is adding background music. Having professional music in your videos' background can make them more exciting to watch, but it goes far beyond that. Adding in music that fits the theme and feel of the video also makes a video more professional. Whether you're making videos to share knowledge, teach a skill, train someone, or entertain the masses, music can help. Great visuals matter but music packs a one-two punch that makes people more engaged. Having both of them together is the best way to build your brand and bring in new viewers. However, anyone who has ever added music into a video the traditional way knows that it can take a lot of time and patience. That's why we want to share our thoughts on adding background music automatically and why that's worth the time. First, let's look at what the process of adding audio to a video typically entails. Adding Music to Videos Takes Tons of Effort Let's say you've already shot a video, and you love the way it came out. You know that you're offering something unique to the viewers, but you want to add something extra to add more flavor. One option there is music. It blends visual and audio together into a cohesive project that fans will enjoy. However, there are many pitfalls to doing all of this on your own. Editing your video can be tough on its own but adding background music adds an additional layer of difficulty. Here are a few reasons why people struggle with background music: · It Needs to be Royalty-Free – Most people who are creating YouTube videos don't have the money or knowledge to seek out music that requires royalties. This cuts down on which pieces of music you can use. You have to find places to look for free music and then go through the process of making sure the audio you have access to will resonate with your audience. · Editing Can Take a Lot of Patience – Even after you find the perfect music for your video, you still have to edit it in. This means using complicated software to ensure the music fits perfectly with the video itself. It can take a lot of time and experience to get to the point where you can do this with ease. · Video Edits Mean More Audio Edits – If you decide to edit the video after you've added the music, you're stuck needing to re-edit the music. It isn't going to be perfectly aligned if you add or chop seconds off of the video you want to upload to YouTube, Vimeo, or TikTok. This takes up even more of your time before you can upload your video. Don't Just Nix the Audio As you can guess, this takes a lot of effort, and you still may end up scrapping what you chose if it doesn't work in the final video. Unless you've already found the perfect solution to handling all of these things, you're probably looking for a way to simplify the process. The last thing you want to do is ignore adding background music just because it's a challenge. The good news is that with the help of Wisecut , you can cut out much of the complication of adding background music. You can automatically add royalty-free music and never have to touch editing software again. Even when you edit your video, the audio edits itself, so you don't have to. Wisecut will even use Automatic Audio Ducking to balance your audio, automatically lowering the music when someone is speaking and increasing it when speech is absent. This will ensure your audience hears what matters most. Try it out today and see how much it helps!
- Introducing Auto Punch In/Out
You already know that removing pauses and awkward silences are supposed to maintain the flow of a video and keep your audience engaged. Removing these pauses results in what’s known as a jump cut. A jump cut is a sudden cut between two sequential shots of the same subject from a stationary camera angle that makes the subject appear to “jump” in frame. This editing technique is very popular among YouTubers because it doesn't require multiple cameras and is an expedient way of maintaining an engaging pace. But what if you could make it look like there was a second camera? That’s where Wisecut’s Auto Punch In comes into play. Wisecut is set to “punch in” and “punch out” automatically. In other words, Wisecut will scale up some shots to create the illusion of an additional camera within closer range. Then, in the following scene, Wisecut will scale back the shot to its original dimensions, giving the impression that you have returned to the wide-range camera. This widely used technique ensures that cuts or jump cuts have a more organic flow while using one camera. Sign In To Wisecut #wisecut #automaticvideoeditor #onlinevideoeditor #vlogging #youtuber
- Introducing Automatic Audio Ducking
You already know that background music is important to keep your viewers engaged while enhancing a video’s mood. Still, it’s essential to balance the audio. If you are talking in your video, you want the music to be in the background so your audience can hear you clearly. When you are not talking — showing B-roll footage, for instance, or providing a demonstration — you want the music to be in the foreground. Making these audio edits manually can take a long time when using other video editors. Unless you enjoy spending hours playing with keyframes to balance your video’s audio, we have something for you: Wisecut Auto Duck. Wisecut uses AI to balance your audio, automatically lowering the music when someone is speaking and increasing when speech is absent. This will ensure your audience hears what matters most.
